Honestly I think they probably do have enough creativity to make a new story out of this that will still make sense.

Personally, I wouldn't mind a compilation movie a la Nanoha (note that I haven't seen the Nanoha movie).

The Nanoha movie isn't a compilation movie, it's a retelling of the series. Some of the events are the similar, but it's completely new animation. It's how I'd expect a Madoka movie to play out, but I think they'd throw in a different ending if they went that route.

Update 3: HMV's anime department apologized for spreading unconfirmed information on the possibility of a Madoka Magica film in its posting earlier in the day.

Ahhh, well! It was fun while it lasted.

It's a bit confusing, but HMV's anime department was the one dismissing the possibility of Madoka Magica film. Now, it's retracting its dismissal.

There was speculation it was a fake but there's no proof. HMV twittered an apology saying they were wrong to pass on unconfirmed info. http://twitter.com/HMV_Anime/status/133581585265065984

Then there's this:
SHIO_TARO: @hazuma I can say the cover is real. Today is distribution day, so some shop might start selling it.

SHIO_TARO: actually it's our company's publication, you can trust me.

I think it should be an extension of Episode 10. I read in an interview somewhere that the original script for episode 10 was so big and detailed that it seemed like the script for a movie.

This will either be absolutely amazing or horribly, horribly disappointing. Not sure if want. Maybe it could be like End of Evangellion where it is just like a theatrical alternate ending? A prequel and retelling from someone elses (Homura's) side would also be viable. I'm not sure how a sequel would work...

Still. Not sure if want.

So the question is whether or not, that is the real DEC 12 cover for NewType. If it is, I need to get it.

according to crunchyroll its gonna be a film trilogy, with the first 2 as recaps and the third picking up where the anime left off.

Not 1 but 2 recaps so soon after the TV series ended? Are people's memories so bad that they can't just rerun a TV series marathon?
