. . . . . . finally, someone else who has a problem with the ending. Thank you. (spoiler, the ending is totally racist)

For god's sake. Now having an "evil" dark skinned character is racist?

Having a whole country that's evil and greedy (implying it's an ethnic trait), conspiring to steal from the rest of the characters, and showing the rest of the characters as just plain better off without them, is bad writing. Making that country's people distinctly different-looking from everyone else is questionable. Making that country obviously recognizable as a real place (Dubai, in this case) is also questionable. A combination of the last two points is racist.
It would be just as racist if they were the only light-skinned country. If there were other countries that looked more like them in the story, it would still be bad writing, but it wouldn't be racist. The problem is that a) there's a whole country of evil people, and b) they look distinctly different from everyone else. Even the country that's supposed to be Native Americans are light-skinned (or at least, the only character from there with a name is.)

What the hell. Seriously, what the hell. Stopped reading right here. What a simplistic, malicious and (even worse) wrong interpretation. For starters, Furawau was selfish and power hungry, but not evil, not more evil than most political parties and politicians are nowadays. The only actual evil character on the show as far as I remember was the very white Aunt who tried to murder Jean and his sister and not actual characters, but the nobility from the white and France based Suitsu too (again, power = not very good people).

And the reason why Furawau was power hungry was not because author wanted to imply that dark skinned people are inherently evil (what the hell) but because they were the most powerful and rich district and, like most powerful and rich people, they became greedy and wanted more. Happens in real life all the time. It wasn't even subtle, especially when compared to the poorest district whose people were very nice and kind.

It's repulsive that someone has the guts to do such a grave accusation as racism based on a malicious and twisted interpretation of the text. Thankfully a quick Google search shows me that this is a one off case.

I know I shouldn't have asked, what a waste of time.

That's a whole lot of righteous indignation to be defending a show about an SS officer-prince spoiler[saving the kingdom from scheming Arabs by establishing a military dictatorship] with.

edit: Spoilered on the off chance anyone who hasn't seen it cares

Am I the only person who doesn't have a problem with the ending? It was really well planned and it showed a lot of depth for the characters, including Jean. Considering that the other anime shows that season were the same cookie cutter, harem/romance loud and annoying mcs, it was a good chance of pace to have an anime based on the politics and corrupt of politics.

So far not one post has actually discussed the play. Instead the discussion is off topic and crossing the line into ridiculous. Some comments downright ignorant. If I cleaned up this thread there would be zero posts left, so I'm just locking this.
