Thought they'd go with Lost Girls because of its length. I'm intrigued even though Mikasa is my least favorite character in the series, but oh well.

Can't wait to watch them gloriously downscaled to DVD quality.

I guess that Mikasa will only get one ep. as her tale isn´t even half as long as the other. I frankly don´t even remember it outside of the opening scene and the recent revelations in the manga regarding Annie make her admittedly fine story a bit pointless.

i'd always wondered about that. if there is any series that should get one, its before the fall. that should have gotten a tv anime series instead of that FMP: Fumoffu wannabe series junior high which was an absolute mess. or at least have the no regrets manga as an OVA. at least having before the fall as an tv series would ease the drought of waiting for season three at least.

By my calculations, if the final manga arc is as long as the last two have been (which seems most likely as they were consistently long), then the manga should end with Chapter 110, a.k.a. Volume 27, so confirmation of 26 is good, but I'm confident it'll end at 27 (given many factors over the last few months and year or so).

The "No Regrets" side story about Levi's history WAS already made into an OVA. It was released awhile ago in Japan and even in America through Kodansha USA's releases of recent manga volumes. In fact, they released four consecutive manga volumes with single-disc DVDs containing 1 episode each - two of the three earlier OVAs, then the two-part No Regrets OVA series. I'm hoping Kodansha USA goes back and releases Episode 3.75, as well as these three new ones coming out.

Ideally, it'd be great to see Funimation finally license ALL 8 of these OVA episodes, dub them, and package them as a full set, perhaps to compliment the 2nd season's release next year?

As for the "drought of waiting for season three", it's only 7 months at best, 10 months at worst. It was announced that season 3 would be coming next year, and by the teaser they released, it would contain the next two manga arcs (10 volumes, 40 chapters), so it will likely be at LEAST a 2-cour season, if not a bit more (highly unlikely, but not impossible, as the way the arcs work out, having one 13-episode cour per arc would work out, so we're looking at a 25-27 episode third season).

@Marky Vol.27 or so is how long the Marley arc should last and it seems to be the 2nd to last arc according to interviews, so Titans will cross the 30 vol. barrier for sure. There could even be bit more story with how backstory heavy the manga now got, so who knows. The anime will also reach Marley with another 1 cour season, meaning that S04´s reception will undebatably be turbulent.
spoiler[I for one enjoy my new "protagonist".]

My basis for assuming the current arc as being the last one is that Isayama has stated that he did not want the anime to be less than 3 arcs behind the manga, which was one reason why season 2 was delayed. In fact, season 2 only aired just a month or so after the current arc began, giving it the space that Isayama wanted.

However, with the release of the season 3 trailer for next year, it looks like they'll be covering the next two arcs in full, which is a HUGE catch up to the manga, which means one of two things:
1- Isayama knew his story would end with the current arc and decided to let Wit produce more anime for 2018, forgoing his previous rule of being behind, or...
2- Wit and/or Isayama are ok with giving fans another 3-4 year wait until the anime continues after 2018, which seems very unlikely, because if they did that, they'd more likely break up the next two arcs into two separate seasons and air them in 2018 and 2019, just to pace the anime out a bit more.

It's my best guess that Isayama knows he will wrap things up next year, and as season 3 finishes airing in September, the final chapter will come out, and announce the final arc will be animated for 2019 as a single Cour final season.

Trust me, I'd love more Attack on Titan, but I don't want it to drag on needlessly either, or have to wait a long time for more anime.
