Amazingly enough, this has gotten not one but two English dubs, one from Toei themselves, the other from Samuel Goldwyn Productions. I remember when I downloaded the fansubbed version of this a dub came separately as it had different timings compared to the original Japanese and couldn't be muxed in without issues...
Edit; Saw the article mention the two dubs..

I remember watching this on a local channel back in the early '00s.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
With the Japanese AND the English dub that my recorded tape has held for 3 decades, a tape which survived the teenage purge (Stupid, stupid, teenage self) and now sits on my shelf but can only be played on the downstairs tv because time and tech march on!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I infinitely prefer the music used for the 'Odette goes to tower' scene in the Pam Dawber dub than the 'new lyrics to old music' song used in the Japanese.

When I get it and watch it, I'll probably remember watching it but, right now, I don't remember watching it. :3

I mean it took me.. what...15 years to remember what the heck the title of the series of the "Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics" was even though there was like 4 episodes of it I watched all the time...them VHS tapes...I still need to try to collect them.

I love these older anime.

Because this film, along with "Aladdin and The Magical Lamp" were distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Television in the past, they're part of MGM's library today, that at least accounts for why Swan Lake has found it's way to many stations in the 2000's, usually combined with a random Pink Panther cartoon at the end or something to fill out time.

Just so people know, this was one of two movies Toei somehow not only commissioned English dubs for their own use, but also were licensed to an American company that produced their own versions of these films. This has led to some confusion among those that either saw Swan Lake or Aladdin on local TV with the "Samuel Goldwyn" cast or the VHS editions sold by Media Home Entertainment/Hi-Topps that featured a group led by William Ross back in Japan.

Be nice if Discotek goes after the Aladdin film too just to compliment this latest release. That one already has two entirely different music scores as the original (I prefer) features OP/ED theme tunes performed by Godiego!

Oh so this will have the Chris Atkins dub and the other Frontier dub that Wikipedia apparently attributes Don Johnson as a dubber to falsely.

Oh, lovely! This is exactly the kind of anime that I most love to see licensed. At first I though I had already bought this in German, but turns out that was another anime movie about swans. If I recall right, my DVD of that has an English dub but terrible video quality, so it would be nice to see that picked up, too.

If Discotek had a slogan, "nostalgia" should be in it.

Who but Discotek would even TOUCH the 70's proto-anime titles that once only Columbia VHS would touch?
I think we all knew this was happening sooner or later. When, not if. Anime smallmouth

I remember passing by this on tv when I was little, a few years before "The Swan Princess" movie came out and noticed the similarities. Didn't see it all, but do think that spoiler[unlike the ballet, this had a happy ending.]
