Oban Star-Racers Anime Sequel/Spinoff 'Seriously Considered'

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Basquash! co-creator Thomas Romain revealed on Monday that he is "seriously considering" working on a sequel or spinoff project for the Oban Star-Racers anime. Savin Yeatman-Eiffel, co-director on the original anime, posted a concept illustration (seen below) for the potential project. Romain noted that the image represented how he "imagined the characters a few years later."

The original anime, a co-production between French animation studio Sav! The World Productions and Japanese anime studios Hal Film Maker and Pumpkin3D, premiered in 2006. The anime aired in the United States on ABC Family and Jetix. Shout! Factory released the series on DVD in 2008.

Sav! The World Productions debuted the Franco-Japanese The 2 Queens trans-media project in 2013.
