Splatoon Manga Gets Motion Comic Starring Mikako Komatsu, Haruka Shiraishi

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official YouTube channel of Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics magazine began streaming a motion comic of Sankichi Hinodeya's Splatoon manga on Saturday. The video, titled "Rider," shows Blue Team fighting against Yellow Green Team and its leader, the highly skilled Rider.

The motion comic's cast includes:

Hinodeya initially published a Splatoon one-shot manga in Shogakukan's Coro Coro Comics in May 2015. The full series then began in Bessatsu Coro Coro Comic Special in February 2016, and also launched in Coro Coro Comics in May 2017. Shogakukan published two compiled volumes in July 2016 and January 2017. The third volume shipped on June 23. Viz Media licensed the manga, and will ship the first volume in late 2017.

Nintendo released the first Splatoon game for the Wii U in May 2015. The game centers on "Inklings," who are beings who can transform between human and squid form. The game pits players in a fight for territory as two teams fight to cover their battlefield with their respective paint colors. The Splatoon 2 sequel launched for the Nintendo Switch on July 21.

The first game also inspired Kino Takahashi's Honobono Ika 4-Koma manga and the Play Manga story collection by various artists. Hinodeya also drew a one-shot for Splatoon 2.
