Live-Action [email protected] Show's Blu-ray, DVD to Have English Subtitles

posted on by Karen Ressler

The official website for THE IDOLM@STER.KR, the live-action South Korean series based on The IDOLM@STER franchise, announced on Sunday that the series' Blu-ray Disc and DVD releases will be region-free and have Japanese and English subtitles.

The staff posted a video explaining that there will be four Blu-ray Disc and DVD sets. They are slated for December 3, January 8, March 26, and April 7. Preorders for the first set opened on Sunday.

The series began airing in South Korea's SBS Plus, SBS funE, and SBS MTV channels in May. The ongoing weekly series will run for 24 episodes.

The series is also streaming simultaneously on Amazon Prime Video for Amazon Prime members wherever the service is available worldwide. The series is available with subtitles in several languages, including English and Japanese, although not all subtitle options are available in all regions.

Amazon describes the series:

THE IDOLM@STER.KR, set in the world of Korean entertainment production, stars Korean idols of course, as well as other Japanese and Thai hopefuls. Like the original game, the drama follows a group of young women as they embark on a career in the entertainment industry, and depicts their sweat and tears, their hopes and dreams.

THE IDOLM@STER.KR (titled The IDOLM@STER.KR Dream in South Korea) follows the tone of previous works, and once again centers on a new group of idols' growth, performances, and mutual friendships. However, the story is set in South Korea, and follows the country's production and entertainment industry. The characters from the games will not appear in the show. Interactive Media Mix, Inc. is handling the planning and production of the series.
