Ys VIII Localization Patch Delayed to Early 2018

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

NIS America (NISA) senior associate producer Alan Costa announced on Thursday that NISA has delayed the release of its planned patch for the Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game to early 2018. Costa noted that the scope of the changes in the patch made the company unable to release the patch in its original planned release date at the end of November.

NIS America has also delayed the PC version release of the game to coincide with the release of the patch.

The free patch is planned to address concerns regarding the localization quality of the game. NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita previously apologized for quality that "has not reached an acceptable level." A new translator and editor are now revising the entire translation, and the patch will include re-translated and re-edited dialogue when necessary, including updated voice overs.

Yamashita also noted that the company is investigating the causes of the issues with the initial localization so that "a similar situation does not occur again."

Nihon Falcom released the game in Japan on May 25 and NIS America released the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe.
