Trivia:

There was a special VHS sneak-peak of the first episode (entitled 'GxG Unit'), and was given to people who advance-booked tickets for Gundam F91.

The Gundam 0083 series also includes two radio dramas, entitled "Runga Offing Cannonade Battle", and "Mayfly of Space". These two sub-stories also make an appearance in the PS2 game, 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Encounters in Space'.

Gato's Musai-class ship Peer Gynt is named after the 1876 Norwegian play by Henrik Ibsen. Cima's Zanzibar II-class ship Lili Marleen is named after the German love song/poem originally known as "Das Mädchen unter der Laterne" ("The Girl Under the Lantern") written by Hans Leip in 1915 and made famous by Lale Andersen in 1939.

The creators were inspired by the Tony Scott film Top Gun to make this.

Mitsuo Hagita's score for this series uses tracks taken from various Hollywood and international films, most of which are from James Horner's scores for Brainstorm and Glory. Also included in the score are tracks lifted from The Thing by Ennio Morricone, Platoon Leader by George S. Clinton, and Quest for Fire by Philippe Sarde.
