About:
A.D. Vision is the parent company of ADV Films, The Anime Network and ADV Manga as well as the publisher of PiQ magazine (pronounced 'peek'). A.D. Vision also operated the SoftCel Pictures label, which released pornographic anime (hentai), however this label was closed down in 2005 and many of its titles transfered to The Right Stuf International's Critical Mass label.

From March 2002 to February 2008, A.D. Vision published Newtype USA, an English language version of the popular Japanese anime magazine. The magazine was canceled in early 2008 and replaced by PiQ.

A.D. Vision is one of two major anime companies that has its own in-house dubbing studio (the other company being Funimation). Their first in-house studio was named "Industrial Smoke and Mirrors" (ISM) and was operated in Houston. Their second dubbing studio, Monster Island, was opened in Austin, Texas. In 2005 Monster Island was closed down with all their dubbing centralized at ISM, which was renamed ADV Studios.

When the company was first founded in 1992, videos were released under the A.D. Vision label, however these were later moved to ADV Films.

Although company officials often joke that the initials are a secret, the A.D. in A.D. Vision stand for "Animation Dubbing."

Business-wise, A.D. Vision was partnered with Sojitz Corporation (through Japan Content Investments), Development Bank of Japan and The KlockWorx Group. In 2008, Sojitz Corporation withdrew their support of A.D. Vision, resulting in the transfer of 30 anime titles to FUNimation Entertainment.
