Granrodeo to Perform Kuroko no Basuke Theme Song

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Needless, Kurokami band in April anime based on Shonen Jump basketball manga

The Japanese band GRANRODEO will perform the opening theme song for the television anime adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki's Kuroko no Basuke basketball manga. The band, which includes lead singer and voice actor Kishō Taniyama, previously sang the opening theme songs for Blassreiter, Kurokami The Animation, Needless, and togainu no chi - Bloody Curs, as well as the ending theme song for Kotetsushin Jeeg. The band released its 15th single "Ai no Warrior" (pictured at right) in November.

In Kuroko no Basuke's story, Taiga Kagami (played by Yūki Ono) has just enrolled into Seirin High School when he meets Tetsuya Kuroko (Kenshō Ono) of the school's basketball team. Kuroko happens to be the shadowy sixth member of the legendary "Generation of Miracles" basketball team. Together, Kagami and Kuroko aim to take their team to the inter-high school championship — against Kuroko's former teammates.

The rest of the main cast is as follows:

The anime will premiere in April, and the 16th volume of the manga will bundle a drama CD on March 2. Shunsuke Tada (The Prince of Tennis, Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations) is directing the anime at Production I.G, and Noboru Takagi (Durarara!!, Baccano!) is in charge of the scripts. Yōko Kikuchi (Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations, Noir) is designing the characters.
