Aya Hirano to Sing Fairy Tail Film's Ending Theme

Nobuo Uematsu to compose song; Korean actor/singer Jang Geun-suk to sing opening theme

The official website for the Fairy Tail: Hōō no Miko (Fairy Tail the Movie: The Maiden of the Phoenix) film announced on Wednesday that voice actress Aya Hirano will perform the anime's ending theme song. Hirano will sing the ballad as her character Lucy Heartfilia.

Final Fantasy franchise composer Nobuo Uematsu is composing the song. Lyricist Goro Matsui (My Bride is a Mermaid, Eyeshield 21), who is writing the song's lyrics, previously worked on the character songs for the Fairy Tail television anime series.

Korean actor and singer Jang Geun-suk will sing the film's opening theme song "200 Miles." Jang previously starred in and sang the theme song for the Korean live-action adaptation of Yayoi Ogawa's Kimi wa Pet (Tramps Like Us) romantic comedy manga. Jang had also previously starred in a Korean live-action film version of Marimo Ragawa 's Baby & Me (Akachan to Boku) slice-of-life manga. Jang released his first solo album in Japan, Just Crazy, on Wednesday.

Fairy Tail: Hōō no Miko revolves around a mysterious girl named Éclair who appears before Fairy Tail, the world's most notorious wizard's guild. She lost all of her memories, except for the imperative that she must deliver two Hōōseki (Phoenix Stones) somewhere. The stones may spell the collapse of the magical world, and Natsu, Lucy, and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild are caught up in the intrigue.

Hiro Mashima, the creator of the original Fairy Tail manga, is in charge of story planning and visual design for the film's all-new plot, and he is also drafting the guest character designs and image concept art. Masaya Fujimori (You Are Umasou) is directing, and Masashi Sogo (Fairy Tail, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin) wrote the screenplay.

The film will open on August 18 in Japan.
