Sony accepting fan comments to mark FF & Metal Gear's 25th Anniversaries

Sony Computer Entertainment announced the PlayStation 3 "Ultimate Character Bentō" (Kyūkyoku no Chara Ben) on Friday. The bentō is part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for the Final Fantasy and Metal Gear video game franchises.

Handcrafting and laser manufacturing processes were used to create the cedar bentō. The multi-tiered box's lid is a recreation of a PlayStation 3 unit down to 0.1-millimeter (0.004-inch) accuracy. The recreation includes details such as the PS3 logo and Blu-ray Disc slot.

Kyoto craftsmen used a traditional lacquering process to give the bentō a high-quality finish on the interior and exterior surfaces. The lid includes a PS logo made of silver leaf.

The "Ultimate Character Bentō" project is still in development, and Sony is accepting fan comments until Sunday. Sony will officially unveil the commemorative bentō at an event on Wednesday. The company will also reveal more details of Final Fantasy and Metal Gear series' 25th anniversary projects on that same day.
