Hiro Shimono, Hitomi Harada Star in Unbreakable Machine-Doll Anime

Reiji Kaitō's school battle story of boy puppeteer & female automaton

Japanese publisher Media Factory updated its website for its MF Bunko J imprint's Summer School Festival 2013 event on Tuesday. In the process, it confirmed the main cast of the "symphonic school battle action" anime Unbreakable Machine-Doll (Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai). This television adaptation of Reiji Kaitō's light novel series is set at England's Walpurgis Royal Academy, where a combat tournament determines the "Maō" — the top automaton master.

Hiro Shimono will play Raishin Akabane, a boy puppeteer who travels from Japan to study at the highest institution for "Machinart" (the craft of making automatons). Hitomi Harada will play Yaya, Raishin's female automaton who accompanies him on his trip.

Kaito launched the light novel series with illustrations by LLO (Mushi-Uta, Oreshura) in 2009, and the 10th volume shipped in January. Hakaru Takagi launched a manga adaptation in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2010.
