Chi to Hai no Joō Creator's Plea to Fans Prevents Manga's Cancellation

Chi to Hai no Joō ("Queen of Blood and Ash," or Killing Vamp) manga creator Hajime Bako recently posted a plea to fans asking them to buy his manga to prevent its cancellation. Apparently, the fans came through. The manga's creator and editor issued an announcement to readers.
The message thanks readers for their support and reveals that the series will continue. The announcement also promises a "dramatic story" in the manga in the future.
In addition, Bako posted a personal statement about the current status of the manga.
In the message to fans, he thanked everyone who bought the first compiled book volume. Bako's editor told him that the first volume sold about 1,000 copies in the week after Bako posted his plea. Bako's editor had told him that if the first volume did not sell at least 1,000 more copies by a month before the third volume is slated to ship in November, the manga would be cancelled with the fourth volume. Bako said that he is grateful he will be able to continue the series after the fourth volume.
However, it seems that Bako's apparent conflict with his editor is not over. The manga creator said he and his editor are in a "battle" about which front cover to use for the third compiled volume. Bako asked fans for their input.
Bako launched the vampire series on Shogakukan's Manga ONE app in 2016, and Shogakukan's Ura Sunday magazine is also publishing the manga in print. The manga's 28th chapter debuted online on Tuesday. The publisher released the second compiled book volume on July 12.
