Jūni Taisen: Zodiac War Home Video Comes With 6-Page Manga

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
What was Boar like before she was an endless bullet dispensing murder machine?

The first of Jūni Taisen: Zodiac War's six home video releases is slated for December 27, and the first copies will include a mini-manga by writer and creator NisiOisin and artist Hikaru Nakamura. The first six-page installment features Boar, Monkey, Dog, and Ox. Toshiko Inō (Boar) is shown drinking tea with Monkey, and Dog and Ox eat at a buffet together.

In the manga's story, Boar drinks tea with Monkey and contemplates how interacting with warriors is part of the fight before the real battles even begin. On another page, Dog thinks of Ox as his greatest barrier to winning and verbally criticizes him for committing cannibalism while eating beef. The first copies of each DVD and Blu-ray Disc for the anime will include six more pages of the manga.

Crunchyroll is also simulcasting this anime adaptation of writer NisiOisin (Monogatari Series, Medaka Box) and illustrator Hikaru Nakamura's (Saint Young Men, Arakawa Under the Bridge) light novel Jūni Taisen: Zodiac Warriors.

Naoto Hosoda (The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, Shuffle!) is directing the series at Graphinica (Chain Chronicle: The Light of Haecceitas, Expelled from Paradise). Sadayuki Murai (Knights of Sidonia, Natsume's Book of Friends seasons 3-5) is handling the series composition, Chikashi Kadekaru (Scar-red Rider XechS, Hōkago Mania Club) is designing the characters, and Gō Shiina (Kyousougiga, God Eater) is composing the music at Avex Pictures.

NisiOisin and Nakamura published the novel in May 2015. In the "greatest battle royale novel ever," 12 warriors who are burdened with the names of the 12 Chinese Zodiac members fight with each other's lives and pride at stake, all to grant just one wish. Viz Media released the novel in hardcover format in October.
