Nausicaa.net hacked, all data lost

At an undetermined time Sunday, the well-known Studio Ghibli fan-run web page known as "Ghiblink" or "Nausicaä.net" was hacked into, alegedly by a Russia-based cracking group, and destroyed all data on the site, including several newsgroups.
Although a motive is not known at this time (and those discussing the topic on various mailing lists and newsgroups are at a loss to come up with one), the Russian authorities have been contacted regarding the matter.
"Hopefully they will be punished for what they have done," says Jeremy Blackman, administrator of the site, in a public statement. He also notes that the site plans to rebuild itself, utilizing the archives, backups, and web browser caches of the site.
The Nausicaä.net computer hosted several web pages and anime-based domain names and web pages, including:
"If you have visited any of our web pages or downloaded any files from this site, please check your hard disk for copies of those web pages or files -- we can use them to rebuild the web server and FTP server," Blackman adds. In the statement, he pleas that those with copies of anything from Nausicaä.net e-mail a list of what files they have (as well as the directory path it came from) to ghiblink@Nausicaä.net as soon as possible. "
Nausicaä.net has chronicled news on Studio Ghibli for the past five years, and has been a primary source of material for Anime News Network. (Please note that this WILL have an effect on ANN stories regarding anything related to the studio.)
