Sequel to Higurashi PC Game Debuts at Comic Market 72

Sequel Umineko no Naku Koro ni sells out in thirty minutes

The fan group and dōjinshi circle 07th Expansion, who appeared at Comic Market ("Comiket") 72 at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center on August 17, sold all available copies of its personal computer game Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When the Black-Tailed Gulls Cry) at its booth within thirty minutes. The game is the third part of the series that began with 07th Expansion's original PC game Higurashi no Naku Koroni (Higurashi: When They Cry).

The first Higurashi game first went on sale to the public at Comiket 62 in the Summer of 2002. The game, created by 07th Expansion member Ryūkishi07, became a hit among fans. The title soon earned the attention of Japanese industry giant MediaWorks, who later released a manga and radio drama CDs based on the game. Studio DEEN and Geneon Entertainment also developed a television anime adaptation, which is now available on DVD in North America.

Although the popularity of the Higurashi series has grown significantly, the PC games are still developed by 07th Expansion and Ryūkishi07. According to the official 07th Expansion website, fans can reserve a copy of Umineko no Naku Koro ni from a list of retailers and stores on its website.
