Lenny Kravitz to Sing Theme for Death Note's L Spinoff

posted on by Egan Loo
"I'll Be Waiting" song to be released in Japan in January

"I'll Be Waiting," a new single from American rock artist Lenny Kravitz, will be the theme song for the Death Note spinoff film L change the WorLd. The mystery film will open in Japanese theaters on February 9. The song was released as a single in America on October 25, and it will released as part of Kravitz's It Is Time for a Love Revolution album on February 5. In Japan, the album will be released on January 30.

Kravitz said (in comments translated into Japanese and retranslated back into English), "When I heard that my new single will be used as the theme of a worldwide hit movie, I was very excited. I'm glad to be able to have this wonderful opportunity, and I'm thrilled to play it before everyone."

The first two Death Note films, which were based on a supernatural suspense manga by Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ooba, used songs from the American band Red Hot Chili Peppers. L change the WorLd will tell an entirely original mystery that the genius detective "L" attempts to solve in 23 critical days in his life. Ringu director Hideo Nakata teams up with L's original actor, Kenichi Matsuyama (NANA's Shin, Sexy Voice and Robo's Ichiro), for this film.
