Madman Announcements from Wai-Con

posted on by Jon Hayward
Quick news coverage of the Wai-Con Madman Panel including some sad news concerning Cartoon Network and a really large pile of acquisitions. More after the jump;

Ann.au was in attendance for the Madman Panel during Wai-Con today. And as a Christmas surprise there was plenty to rejoice about. Unfortunately there was sad news, Cartoon Network are discontinuing their late night Anime Block. The block will cease screening on the 1st of January, the decision was made entirely by Cartoon Network and Madman Entertainment are sad to hear this decision.

On the Christmas Treat side of things we have Blood+ manga, which includes the Blood+ (prequel), Blood+ A (adaptation) and Blood+ Night (side story).

In terms of DVD we have several Genon Titles from Tokyo Night Train, Madman have purchased them to release to you! Black Lagoon and Shakugan no Shana will be starting from March in single volumes. New Getter Robo, Tokyo Underground, Starship Operators and Daphne of the Brilliant Blue will all be released as complete fatpack collections.

Madman will also be discontinuing the release of individual Naruto volumes with volume 12 and restarting with fatpack collections similar to the US release. These will begin with volume 1 in May and will retail for $49.95 and will remain uncut.

The biggest christmas treat has to be the Disgaea anime series. Madman is releasing this as a complete collection mid 2008 if all goes to plan.

We will have full coverage of both Wai-Con and the Madman Panel over the next few days, stay tuned!
