Ushio & Tora's Fujita, Recca's Anzai to Start New Manga

Nobuyuki Anzai's MiXiM 12 to start in Weekly Shonen Sunday mag in April

An Asahi Shimbun paper article on the life of manga assistants has revealed on March 8 that the studio of Kazuhiro Fujita (Ushio & Tora, Karakuri Circus) is developing a new serialized manga for Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine. The Ushio & Tora manga (pictured at right) inspired an anime video series which ADV Films released in North America. Another manga, the "Karakuri no Kimi" short story in Fujita's Yoru no Uta collection, inspired the Puppet Princess video that Media Blasters released in North America.

Separately, manga creator Nobuyuki Anzai revealed in a March 8 entry in his personal blog that he will be starting a new serialized manga called MiXiM 12 in April's bumper Issue 21/22 of Shonen Sunday magazine. It will be his fourth serialized work in Shonen Sunday, after Rocket Princess, Flame of Recca (pictured at left), and MÄR. Anzai had previously said in his blog last March that he would have nothing to with Shonen Sunday's editor-in-chief and editorial department. Viz Media has released both the manga and anime versions of Anzai's Recca and MÄR in North America, although single DVDs of MÄR after volume 4 have been removed from retailers' order lists.
