Peach-Pit Draws One-Shot Manga in Young Jump Mag

Manga deals with Rozen Maiden's Shinku doll; announcement hinted for next week

The official website of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine has taken the unusual step of blurring an image on the cover of this year's 16th issue, which will go on sale on March 19. Advance copies of this issue (pictured at right) reveal that the image is for "Shōjo no Tsukuri-kata" (How to Make a Girl), a previously unannounced one-shot manga by Peach-Pit (Rozen Maiden, DearS, Shugo Chara!, Zombie-Loan). The full-color short story deals with how Shinku, the titular doll of Peach-Pit's Rozen Maiden supernatural manga series, was made. The issue also says that an important announcement will be made in the 17th issue, which will go on sale on March 27.

Rozen Maiden ran in Gentosha's rival Monthly Comic Birz magazine until Peach-Pit announced in December of 2006 that the manga would go on hiatus due to issues on "the editorial department's side." Monthly Comic Birz printed its "grand finale" of the manga in May of 2007, and Gentosha published one last abbreviated volume in June. Tokyopop has published seven of the eight available manga volumes in North America. Geneon Entertainment licensed the two Rozen Maiden television anime series but ceased North American distribution during the release of the second series.
