The North American publisher
Dark Horse Comics has acquired the
World Embryo adventure manga by
Daisuke Moriyama (
Chrono Crusade). The acquisition was to be have been announced at
Dark Horse's
panel at Comic-Con International on Saturday, but the surprise guest appearance of actor/author Bruce Campbell cut short the announcement. The story takes place in a world where daemons from another world are infecting humans. Fighters with jinki core weapons hunt down the infected humans ("kanshu"), and a boy named Riku is caught in the middle of the conflict when he gains the powers of both the kanshu and the jinki core.
Shonen Gahosha's
Young King Ours magazine has been serializing the manga since 2005, and four volumes have been compiled and published in Japan.
