Trigun's Nightow to End Kekkai Sensen Manga

posted on by Egan Loo

The March issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine confirmed last Wednesday that Yasuhiro Nightow (Trigun) is ending his Kekkai Sensen -Mafūgai Kessha- mini-series (center of image) of supernatural short stories in the next issue on March 4. Nightow created the first Ketsu-kai Sensen (The Battlefront of the Blood Realm) for the magazine last May, and he turned it into a three-part mini-series this year. Dark Horse Comics publishes Nightow's Trigun in North America.

As previously announced, the next Jump Square issue will also feature the launch of Takeshi Konomi 's New Prince of Tennis (Shin Tennis no Ōji-sama) manga (left half of image). The sports story will take place several months after the national tennis tournament that ended the original manga last March. While the main character Ryōma is honing his skills in America, an crucial letter arrives. Viz Media publishes Konomi's original Prince of Tennis in North America.

Stan Lee (Spider-Man, X-Men) and Hiroyuki Takei (Shaman King) began the regular run of the Karakuridōji Ultimo action manga (top right of image) in the magazine this month, after creating a Chapter 0 prologue last April. Viz Media confirmed at New York Comic Con on Sunday that the American Shonen Jump magazine will launch the regular run of Ultimo in its July issue.

Kazue Katō is launching a manga series called Ao no Exorcist (The Blue Magic Exorcist, bottom right of image) in the May issue, which ships on April 4.

Erratum: The correct romanization of Kazue Katō's manga should be Ao no Exorcist.
