Geass Producer: Stage, Musical Versions Considered

posted on by Egan Loo
Yoshitaka Kawaguchi wants to announce animation project "soon"

In an interview that is being published in the February issue of Kadokawa's Newtype magazine this week, Code Geass producer Yoshitaka Kawaguchi said that he and director Goro Taniguchi would be interested in a stage or musical version of Code Geass. He added that he wants to announce an animation project as part of the "New Code Geass Project" effort "soon."

However, Kawaguchi took special care not to say that he is officially announcing any specific form that the "New Code Geass Project" will take after its first phase, the previously revealed manga. He added that he himself does not know what form or format that the second phase of the "New Code Geass Project" will take. Taniguchi is not quoted in the interview.

Tomomasa Takuma (Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, Kurogane Communication) is drawing the tentatively titled Code Geass: Shikkoku no Renya (Code Geass: Jet-Black Renya or Code Geass: Renya of the Blackness) manga. Taniguchi is creating the new manga's story concepts; this is the first manga that he is directly scripting himself. The story takes place in the same official Code Geass history as the anime, but in Japan's historical Edo era.

Kawaguchi revealed on the franchise's website that the "New Code Geass Project" will feature the simultaneous releases of serialized comics, music, new products under development, and visual works.
