Sunrise Makes Original Anime for Shoko Nakagawa's Tour

Tour animates Noizi Ito's "Jewel-chan," shows Pokémon helmer's music video

The Japanese animation studio Sunrise produced an exclusive original anime short for voice actress/singer Shōko Nakagawa's ongoing Prism Tour 2010 concert run. In addition to the original anime, the April-May concert tour is screening Pokémon director Kunihiko Yuyama's alternate music video for Nakagawa's Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life ending theme song "Kokoro No Antenna." Nakagawa also dances in sync with a computer-animated version of the "Jewel" character that Noizi Ito (Haruhi Suzumiya) drew for the Shokotan Cover 3 ~AniSon wa Jinrui o Tsunagu~ album cover and Prism Tour.

Warmhouse studio head Kazuaki Nakamura (NieA_7) reported last month that he directed, scripted, and edited Sunrise's opening anime short for the tour with storyboarder Hiroshi Nagahama (Detroit Metal City, Mushi-Shi, Revolutionary Girl Utena). Tatsuya Suzuki (Aniyome wa Ijippari, Iyashite Agerun Saiyuki) adapted Ito's "Jewel-chan" character design for animation. Nakagawa collaborator Jun Imai composed the opening anime's theme song.

Nakagawa celebrated her birthday before 2,400 attendees at her Tokyo concert on Wednesday. The concert tour will run until May 23, and Macross Frontier voice actress/singer Megumi Nakajima will be a special guest at the tour's May 22 stop in Yokohama. Nakagawa will hold two more concerts at Chiba's Makuhari Messe hall on November 13 and 14 to mark the fifth anniversary of her professional singing debut.
