Yumeiro Pâtissière Shōjo Cooking Manga Ends on Friday

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Natsumi Matsumoto's manga inspired two television anime series by Studio Pierrot

Natsumi Matsumoto announced on her Twitter account on Thursday that she will end her Yumeiro Pâtissière shōjo cooking manga in the July issue of Shueisha's Ribon magazine, which will be released on Friday. Matsumoto launched the manga in 2008. The series will have a total of 10 volumes.

The story centers on a 14-year-old girl named Ichigo Amano who wants to be a pâtissière (female pastry chef), but she is stymied by her own clumsiness. One day, she enrolls in St. Mary Academy, a culinary school for sweets, and meets a "spirit of sweets."

The manga was adapted into a television anime in 2009, and a spinoff season, Yumeiro Pâtissière SP Professional, aired in 2010. Crunchyroll simulcast both series on its website.

Yumeiro Pâtissière won the Shogakukan Manga Award in the Children's Category in January. Matsumoto previously created the St. Dragon Girl supernatural adventure manga, and Viz Media published the eighth and final volume of St. Dragon Girl in North America in September.
