Children of the Sea Manga Ending in September in Japan

Daisuke Igarashi ends Kaijū no Kodomo in Ikki mag; Naoko Matsushima starts Sumire Fanfare

The October issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine is announcing on Thursday that Daisuke Igarashi is ending his Children of the Sea (Kaijū no Kodomo) manga in the next issue on September 24.

Igarashi launched the manga in Monthly Ikki in 2006, and the fourth compiled book volume shipped in 2009. Viz Media has been previewing the manga in North America on the English Ikki website since 2009, and it published the manga's fourth volume last December.

Naoko Matsushima is also launching a new manga series called Sumire Fanfare in Monthly Ikki on September 24. The story revolves around a fourth-grade girl named Sumire who, despite her parents' divorce the year before, tries to keep a smile on her face and never gives up.
