Crossbone Gundam: Ghost Manga Set in V Gundam Timeframe

Manga creator Yūichi Hasegawa is launching his Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Ghost manga series in the January issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Gundam Ace magazine on Saturday. However, the new story is set in the year UC 0153 — two decades after Hasegawa's previous Crossbone Gundam series and in the story timeframe of the Mobile Suit V Gundam anime.

The first Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam followed the conflict between the burgeoning Jupiter Empire and a small resistance force in UC 0133. Hasegawa then drew two sequels, Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Skull Heart and Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Kōtetsu no Nananin (Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam: Steel Seven), that show the aftermath of the conflict three years later.

Both the various Crossbone Gundam manga titles and V Gundam have not been released in North America yet, but Bandai Entertainment did release the Mobile Suit Gundam F91 film; several of the characters in that UC 0123 story play prominent roles in Crossbone Gundam.

Gundam Ace's January issue also features the return of original Gundam character designer Yoshikazu Yasuhiko with Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin Artesia 0083 I Part I. The side story depicts the heroine Sayla Mass from the first Gundam anime as she pursues a certain man three years after the One Year War ended. The original Gundam: The Origin ended in June with an announcement of an anime.

The same Gundam Ace issue launches Tony Takezaki no Sakusaku Daisakusen manga and Masato Natsumoto's U.C. Hard Graph: Tetsu no Kanba. (There was a preview U.C. Hard Graph installment in the previous issue.)
