The film journalist Hiroo Otaka reported on Monday that Naoko Yamada and Kyoto Animation's K-ON! anime film earned 193.5 million yen (about US$2.49 million) in its second weekend at the Japanese box office. That is 61 percent of the film's box office take during its first weekend. It dropped in ranking from #2 to #4, according to Kogyo Tsushinsha.

Three new live-action movies appeared in the top 10 during the December 10-11 weekend. Trailing K-ON! at #5 was the new film Genji Monogatari: Sennen no Nazo with 163.76 million yen (US$2.103 million).

Last weekend's #1 film, the live-action film adaptation of the Kaibutsu-kun manga, slipped to #2 after two weekends at the top.
