Madhouse Studio Animates Short Based on Schulz's Peanuts

Short "released somewhere in Tokyo"; 1 of 2 studios authorized to animate Peanuts

The anime studio Madhouse revealed that it has begun producing animation based on the Peanuts comic strip by the late American artist Charles M. Schulz. According to Madhouse, it has produced an animated short that "is released somewhere in Tokyo" and indicated that the short is also on the web. Only two studios have been authorized by Peanuts Worldwide LLC to make animation; the other is Bill Melendez Productions, the studio famous for the Peanuts television specials.

Schulz launched the comic strip in 1950, and even now, 12 years after Schulz's passing, newspapers throughout the world still run the comic strip. Snoopy Town Shops are popular destinations throughout Japan.
