Inazuma Eleven Go 2: Chrono Stone Anime to Premiere on April 18

'Shocking time travel adventure' soccer series also gets manga, game

The April issue of Shogakukan's Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine will reveal on Thursday that the Inazuma Eleven GO 2: Chrono Stone television anime series will premiere in Japan on April 18. A manga version of the latest Inazuma Eleven soccer franchise title will debut in the May issue on April 14, and a Nintendo 3DS soccer game is also planned.

Unlike the previous Inazuma Eleven anime, the new project is a time travel adventure. The main character is Tenma Matsukaze from the previous Inazuma Eleven GO anime, and he is joined by Fei Ruun, a boy who came from the future. There is also Clark "Wandaba" Wandabatto, an android in the form of a teddy bear. Wandaba wields a "Miximax Gun" can transfer the aura of a player to another, thus giving one player the powers of both players.

The story is set after the end of Holy Road tournament finals of the first Inazuma Eleven GO anime, and Tenma returns to Raimon Junior High School. However, this is not the Raimon that Tenma remembers, and the members of the Raimon team no longer play soccer. Tenma realizes that this is a parallel world when Alpha, the captain and forward of the Protocol Omega team, appears before him. Alpha is part of a secret project in the future to wipe out soccer. To aid Tenma in his adventures, the Inazuma Caravan van seen in previous Inazuma Eleven anime has been modified into a flying time machine.

Akihiro Hino, the president of the game developer Level-5, revealed on Saturday that the new Inazuma Eleven series is a "shocking time travel adventure." Hino said that that script recording of the first episode has already been completed, and he added that the game version of the project will still be a role-playing game, just like the previous Inazuma Eleven games were.

The Inazuma Eleven anime projects adapt the Inazuma Eleven soccer role-playing games from Level 5 (Gundam AGE, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Rogue Galaxy, Professor Layton and the Curious Village). The first Inazuma Eleven anime series premiered in 2008, and its Inazuma Eleven GO sequel series premiered last May. There have also been two anime films, Inazuma Eleven: Saikyō Gundan Ogre Shūrai and Inazuma Eleven GO: Kyūkyoku no Kizuna Griffon, and manga spinoffs.
