GTO's Tohru Fujisawa to Launch 1st Food Manga Series

Creator works with dietician Nozomi Kageyama on Manga Action series in May

GTO manga creator Tohru Fujisawa wrote on his blog on April 6 that he will begin a new series in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine next month. The series will be his first to center around food, and dietician Nozomi Kageyama will work with Furuya as an advisor.

Fujisawa also launched a new series called Ino-Head Gargoyle in Kodansha's Young Magazine in January. He launched another new manga titled Soul Reviver in Shogakukan's new Monthly Hero's magazine that same month. Fujisawa is handling the manga's scenario and original character design, and Manabu Akishige (D-ASH) is illustrating the manga.

Fujisawa launched still another new series called Shibuya Hachikō-Mae -another side- (In Front of Shibuya Station's Hachikō Exit -another side) in the January issue of ASCII Media Works' digital magazine Dengeki Comic Japan on November 25. Akitsugu Mizumoto is illustrating that manga.

Tokyopop published Fujisawa's GTO in North America. In 2009, Fujisawa returned to the character of Onizuka with Shonan 14 Days. Vertical announced in May that it licensed both GTO: Shonan 14 Days and Shonan Junai-gumi (the predecessor to Great Teacher Onizuka) for North America. Fujisawa just finished Shonan 14 Days last year, but he launched a three-chapter spinoff in November.
