Zettai Karen Children Manga Gets New Anime Project

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
New project part of 7 new projects to commemorate 7th anniversary of Takashi Shiina's manga

This year's 33rd issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing next Wednesday that Takashi Shiina's Zettai Karen Children manga is getting a new anime project. The announcement did not provide any other details about the upcoming project. The new anime is one of seven new projects that will commemorate the seventh anniversary of the manga's serialized debut in the magazine. More information will be available in future issues of Weekly Shonen Sunday and in future collected volume releases of Shiina's manga.

The wraparound jacket band on the 30th volume of Shiina's manga had announced in May that a "new project" related to the series had been "launched."

Shiina's sci-fi comedy series received a 52-episode television anime series in 2008 that Sentai Filmworks released in North America in May under the name Psychic Squad, as well as a 2010 original video anime adaptation. The story of the anime and the original manga follows a unique special-operations unit — three ten-year-old girls with paranormal powers and the hapless lieutenant who must supervise/babysit them.
