Tokitowa Producer: Game Has English Release Plans

posted on by Egan Loo

Namco Bandai Games producer Kay Hirono (Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa Hybrid Pack, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Battle Destiny) told the Taiwanese video game website GNN this week that there are plans to release an English version of the Tokitowa role-playing game. During Hirono's appearance at the 2012 Comic Exhibition in Taipei, GNN asked him about any news for Taiwan, and Hirono responded:

"This time, I brought with me the newest info on the game for everyone who likes VOFAN [the game's artist]. Besides the Japanese version, there are only plans to release an English version. So far, I am sorry, there are no plans to produce a Chinese version of the game."

Ryōei Mikage, the CEO of the game's developer Imageepoch, had said in June that he is "holding the meeting of whether to sell [TOKI TOWA for PS3] in the United States." He then posted in July that the game will have "contracts soon [Localization]" and that "the project is progressing."

Imageepoch (Fate/Extra, Luminous Arc, 7th Dragon) is developing Tokitowa as the "first HD animation RPG" with the anime studio Satelight (Macross Frontier, Aquarion Evol, Mōretsu Pirates, AKB0048) and the distributor Namco Bandai Games. Satelight is not just animating the key cut scenes (as many role-playing games have already done in the past), but also the characters' movements and battle sequences in regular gameplay.

The single-player fantasy game will ship in Japan for the PlayStation 3 console on October 11.
