posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Anime based on Shin Araki's light novel to premiere on Wednesday

The media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Tuesday that it will stream the television anime adaptation of Shin Araki's GJ Club (GJ-bu) moe light novel series. The company will stream the series starting with episode 7 on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. EST. Crunchyroll will add the first six episodes of the series at a later date. The series will be available for members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Araki launched the original light novel series as the "first four-panel novel" in 2010; each of the nine volumes contains 36 short stories about high school students, and each story is only four pages long.

Yoshiyuki Fujiwara (Blue Exorcist, Sword Art Online) is directing the anime at the studio Dogakobo (Yuruyuri). Hiro Shimono, Maaya Uchida, Yume Miyamoto, Suzuko Mimori and Chika Arakawa are leading the cast.

The series premiered in Japan on January 9.

Update: Background information added. Crunchyroll also announced the launch of an app on Panasonic TVs with Viera Connect in North and South America, as well as Asia (except Japan). However, Crunchyroll has since deleted the announcement and any mention of a Panasonic app from its website.
