Non Non Biyori Countryside School Comedy Manga Gets Anime

posted on by Egan Loo
Slice-of-life story set in rural school with only 4 girls & 1 brother

The wraparound jacket band on the fifth volume of Atto's Non Non Biyori manga is announcing on Saturday that an anime adaptation has been green-lit. The slice-of-life comedy is set in a countryside school with only five students total. The nearest bookstore is 20 minutes away by bicycle, a certain "Ju_p" magazine comes out on Wednesdays instead of Mondays, and the video rental store is 10 stations away.

Fifth-grade schoolgirl Hotaru Ichijō transfers from Tokyo to this school and readjusts to the slow life in the country. Her fellow schoolmates are first-year middle schoolgirl Natsumi, second-year middle schoolgirl Komari, first-grade schoolgirl Renge, and Komari's big brother Suguru in the third year of middle school.

Atto launched the manga in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2009.
