Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! Gets Film in September

Takanashi Rikka • Kai ~Gekijō-ban Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai!~ (Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! the Movie: Rikka Takanashi's Revision), a film adaptation of the Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai! television anime, will open in 27 Japanese theaters on September 14. Kyoto Animation began streaming a teaser trailer on Sunday:
According to the television anime's director Tatsuya Ishihara, the film will be a compilation of the first television season — only as seen from the character Rikka's eyes and recontructed with new elements to make it interesting for the audience. The staff had other ideas for the title such as "Daydream of Angel" or "A Love Song to a Fallen Angel." However, someone in the staff said "Rikka Takanashi's Revision," and they settled on that. The last scene of the film will tie into the upcoming second anime season.
The staff and cast from the first season are returning for this film. Rikka (as voiced by Maaya Uchida) will perform the opening theme song, while Rikka, Shinka Nibutani (Chinatsu Akasaki), Kumin Tsuyuri (Azumi Asakura), and Sanae Dekomori (Sumire Uesaka) will perform the ending theme "Black Raison d'être" (Black Reason for Being).
The first batch of advance tickets will go on sale on Saturday, each with one of four limited-edition swimsuit clear file folders with new art by character designer Kazumi Ikeda. The second batch of advance tickets will go on sale in late July.
The television anime's first season had premiered in Japan last October. Sentai Filmworks acquired the series for digital and home video distribution in North America, and The Anime Network is streaming the series.
A teaser had aired in March to reveal that the anime has had its "contract renewed." The June issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine then reported in May that production on the second season had been green-lit.
