December 7 crossover film has legendary Thief & Detective battling over secret treasure

The Cinema Today website began streaming the full trailer for Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie on Friday.

The trailer begin with the genius Detective Conan and the legendary thief Lupin III taunting each other:

Conan: Do you give up, Lupin III?

Lupin: This battle's just getting started, Conan Edogawa.

"Cherry Sapphire," an illusive secret treasure that holds the key to the entire world, will bring the two in a "head-to-head confrontation." Lupin is suspected of stealing the gem, and "when the truth is revealed, the curtain will open on the greatest battle in the world."

The trailer introduces many of the film's characters, including Lupin III (voiced by Kanichi Kurita) and Conan Edogawa (voiced by Minami Takayama), Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa, Ran Mori, Ai Haibara, Kogoro Mori, Fujiko Mine, and Inspector Zenigata.

Actor Seiyō Uchino (Jin) and actress Natsuna (Gantz) join the cast as as "Alan Smithee" (a mysterious man whose true identity is unknown) and Claudia (the manager of Emilio, a popular singer who is key to the plot), respectively. These are the first voice acting roles for both special guest stars.

The two rivals try to get the last word in the trailer:

Conan: There is not a mystery …

Lupin: There is not a treasure …

Together: …That I can't {solve/steal}!

However, Fujiko gets the final word: "Won't you tell me Your Secret for staying young?"

Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday magazine revealed in April that a Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie film will open in Japan in December, more than four years after Lupin III vs. Detective Conan television special aired on NTV in 2009. The special earned a 19.5% rating.

The film will premiere in Japanese theaters on December 7.
