Yozakura Quartet's Yoza-Quar! Spinoff Manga Gets Anime Shorts

posted on by Egan Loo
Manga shorts inspire Blu-ray/DVD bonuses with characters in "slighly risqué" light

The website for the Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~ anime announced on Monday that Yoza-Quar!, the spinoff short manga that runs at the end of the original manga's book volumes, is also getting its first anime adaptation. Each of the six listed Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~ Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes will include one previously unseen episode of the Yoza-Quar! anime. The bonus shorts will feature the characters in a "slighly risqué" light not seen in the main story.

The first Blu-ray/DVD volume will also ship on December 18 with a Yozakura Quartet x Durarara!! special collaboration comic by original artist Suzuhito Yasuda, special packaging and Digipak case illustrated by Yasuda, a full-color booklet, and a ticket drawing form for a special event. The sixth Blu-ray/DVD volume will bundle a "6 in 1" book cover for all of the six special comics on May 21, 2014.

The Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~ television anime series premiered earlier this month, and it is not a continuation of the previous television anime, but a reboot that incorporates new story elements starting from episode 1. Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~'s staff is also different from the 2008 anime series, but the same as the Yozakura Quartet ~Hoshi no Umi~ and Yozakura Quartet ~Tsuki ni Naku~ original video anime projects.

Ryo-timo is designing the characters and directing Hana no Uta at Tatsunoko Productions. Kiyotaka Suzuki is serving as assistant director while Manabu Ishikawa is in charge of the scripts. The cast from the earlier television anime does return for Hana no Uta.

Del Rey published the beginning of the original manga in North America.
