5th Attack on Titan Blu-ray/DVD to Bundle Full-Color Manga

88-page manga will depict events in anime episodes 11-13

The December issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine is reporting on Saturday that the fifth Attack on Titan Blu-ray Disc and DVD volume will bundle a full-color manga.

This Blu-ray/DVD volume will include episodes 11-13, and the 88-page manga book is a full-color version of the chapters in the original manga that these episodes adapted. The volume will also have a separate 12-page full-color booklet, end card illustrations, a sleeve case designed by character designer Kyoji Asano, and Digipak packaging. The volume will ship in Japan on November 20, and the Blu-ray Disc will retail for 7,875 yen (about US$80) while the DVD will retail for 6,825 yen (US$69).

The anime's first DVD and Blu-ray volume contained a 65-page "prototype" manga that Isayama drew when he was only 19 years old.

Hajime Isayama's original Attack on Titan manga depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves. Isayama launched the series in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009, and the manga now has 25 million copies in print. Kodansha Comics is publishing the manga in North America on a monthly basis until it is caught up with the Japanese releases. Kodansha Comics will also release three spinoff manga series and a guidebook in North America.

Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the anime version of the manga as it aired in Japan, and Funimation will release the series on home video next year.
