7 Blades' Hayashi Makes Live-Action Soul Reviver Short

Maiku Hama director Kaizō Hayashi promotes manga by GTO's Fujisawa about 2 people who salvage souls

The 100-second teaser version of the live-action promotional movie for the Soul Reviver manga by Tohru Fujisawa (GTO) debuted on Wednesday, followed by the full nine-minute promotional movie on Friday. Kaizō Hayashi, the director of the Maiku Hama films and the creative director of the 7 Blades game, helmed the project with his Team Miroku staff.

In the manga, the dead can be brought back to life, if their souls can be restored before disappearing into the void. Between death and the void is the world of the dead, and two individuals — the former detective Ryūsuke Jin and the dead high school girl Clara Sekimachi — salvage souls in this realm.

Kenta Harada and Kanako Mizumoto play Ryūsuke Jin and Clara Sekimachi, respectively. Shiori Doi, Takashi Kimura, and Masatoshi Nagase also star as Reiko Andō, "Nameless," and Shinkai, respectively.

Fujisawa created the scenario and original character designs, while Manabu Akishige (D-ASH, GO-ON!) is drawing the manga.

The manga has been running in Shogakukan's Monthly Hero's magazine since its second issue in 2011. The fourth compiled book volume shipped in Japan on Friday.

Shogakukan promoted the third volume with a 3D CG short in April:
