Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Friday that it will stream the Yami Shibai: Japanese Ghost Stories 2 and Barakamon television anime series.

Crunchyroll will begin streaming the second season of Yami Shibai (Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories) on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET for premium members outside Asia. Free members will be able to watch one week later in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The series is premiering in Japan on Sunday.

Crunchyroll will begin streaming Barakamon at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday for premium members in Europe (outside the United Kingdom and Ireland), the Middle East, and North Africa. Free members will be able to watch one week later. The anime is premiering in Japan on Sunday.

Staff members for Yami Shibai: Japanese Ghost Stories 2 include directors Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge, live-action Kiki's Delivery Service) and Noboru Iguchi (Nuigulumar Z, Karate-Robo Zaborgar), as well as scriptwriter Shōichirō Masumoto (King of the Escape).

The original series of anime shorts featured six-minute horror stories based on urban legends. The shorts inspired by Shōwa-era illustrated paper theater productions aired last summer, with Tomoya Takashima directing off scripts by Hiromu Kumamoto. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired.

Kinema Citrus (Yuyushiki, Code:Breaker) is producing Barakamon for Nippon TV. Masaki Tachibana (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky) is directing the series off of Pierre Sugiura's (Yuyushiki, Bottom Biting Bug) scripts. Majiro (Nagareboshi Lens) is handling the character designs, and Kenji Kawai (Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit, Patlabor 2: The Movie) is handling the music.

The series stars Daisuke Ono (Noragami, Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, Attack on Titan) as Seishū Handa and child voice actress Suzuko Hara as 7-year-old Naru Kotoishi. Episode zero of the Mijikamon series, anime shorts inspired by Satsuki Yoshino's original Barakamon manga, began streaming on Thursday.

The slice-of-life comedy manga centers around the ikemen (handsome) 23-year-old calligrapher Seishū Handa, who moves to the remote Gotō Islands off the western coast of Kyushu. Seishū grew up in the city, and the manga chronicles his interactions with the people of the island, who drive tractors on public roads and don't enter through his front door when they visit. On top of that, Seishū's house becomes a hangout for the island's children.
