Zettai Karen Children Manga Resumes With Final Arc in August

New character that will change fate of psychic girls in high school makes debut appearance

This year's 34th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Takashi Shiina's Zettai Karen Children (Absolutely Lovely Children) manga will resume in the magazine's 39th issue on August 27. The issue will feature the first chapter of the high school arc, which will also serve as the final arc of the series.

The magazine lists the following preview:

Grown up to be absolutely lovely, it resumes!
The white canvas that is the future is right ahead...!!
The girls finally return, and have become high school students... Serialization will resume, powered-up and even more lovely! In addition, even a new character will make an appearance, and will change destiny substantially! Please look forward to seeing The Children take one step closer to adulthood.

Shogakukan is shipping the 39th compiled volume of the manga in Japan on Friday, and the volume will feature the final chapters of the manga's middle school arc. The limited edition special package of the volume will come bundled with the third collection of the "Supplement" 4-panel comics.

The story of the manga follows a unique special-operations unit consisting of Kaoru Akashi, Aoi Nogami, and Shiho Sannomiya — three ten-year-old girls with paranormal powers — and Kōichi Minamoto, the hapless lieutenant who must supervise/babysit them. The manga later focused on the girls in middle school, and the dark premonition that has been made about their futures.

Shiina's sci-fi comedy series began in Shonen Sunday in 2005, and received a 52-episode television anime series in 2008, as well as a 2010 original video anime adaptation. Sentai Filmworks released in North America in May under the name Psychic Squad. A spin-off anime focusing on the series antagonist Kyōsuke Hyōbu titled The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke aired last year, and Crunchyroll streamed the series.
