Kuchibiru ni Uta o Manga's Live-Action Film Will Star Yui Aragaki

Film will open in February in Japan

The September issue of Shokakugan's Monthly Shonen Sunday (Gessan) will announce on Tuesday the cast and staff for the upcoming live-action film based on Taishi Mori's Kuchibiru ni Uta o (A Song on Our Lips) manga. The film is slated to open in Japan in February.

Yui Aragaki (Digimon: Data Squad, Koizora) will star as Kashiwagi and Miki Takahiro (Bokura ga Ita, Solanin live-action films) will direct the adaptation off a screenplay by Yukiko Mochiji and Yūichi Toyone (Bokura wa Minna Shindeiru live-action drama). Angela Aki will sing the theme song "Tegami ~ Dear Jūgo no Kimi he~" (Letter ~ Dear the 50 of you ~).

Taishi began the manga in Shokakugan's Monthly Shonen Sunday (Gessan) magazine last year. The manga adapts Eiichi Nakata's original novel.

The story of Kuchibiru ni Uta o follows Kashiwagi, a stunningly beautiful, self-described NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) part-time teacher who went to a music college in Tokyo. Her old middle-school classmate Matsuyama is now the adviser for a middle school chorus club on Nagasaki Prefecture's Gotō Islands, but she has to go on maternity leave. Matsuyama asks Kashiwagi to take over the club for one year. The chorus club had only female members before, but the arrival of Kashiwagi suddenly attracts lots of boys, resulting in conflict among its ranks. Despite this, the club prepares for NCon, NHK's real-life nationwide school music competition, with its newly diverse roster.
