Library Wars: Love & War Manga to End in 3 More Chapters

Kiiro Yumi's shōjo take on Hiro Arikawa's sci-fi novels that also inspired anime, live-action film

The November issue of Hakusensha's LaLa magazine is announcing on Wednesday that Kiiro Yumi will end the Library Wars: Love & War manga in three more chapters. If the manga runs without a break, it will end in the February issue on December 24.

The story is set in a future version of Japan. A law threatens to clamp down on freedom of expression in 2019, and Iku joins the Library Defense Force, a military unit dedicated to protecting books from being confiscated. However, she finds that the job of her childhood dreams is harder than she bargained for, especially with her hard-nosed instructor Atsushi.

Yumi began serializing this shōjo manga adaptation of Hiro Arikawa's Toshokan Sensō science-fiction novels in LaLa in 2007. Viz Media licensed the series for release in North America in 2009 and shipped the 12th volume in North America this month.

The light novels also inspired a television anime series and anime film. A live-action film version opened in theaters in Japan last year and then ran in festivals in the United States.
