Nisekoi Gets Magical Girl Spinoff Manga Series

posted on by Egan Loo

Taishi Tsutsui (Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Sweets Honey) is launching an official Nisekoi spinoff manga series called Magical Pâtissier Kosaki-chan in the digital manga service Shonen Jump+ on Monday. 2015's first issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing the news that same day. As the manga's title implies, the character Kosaki Onodera, whose family runs a Japanese sweets shop, is transforming into a magical girl in this story.

The original manga and its television anime adaptation revolve around Raku Ichijō (Kōki Uchiyama), a normal high school student who happens to be the heir to a yakuza group. The attractive but violent transfer student Chitoge Kirisaki (Nao Tōyama), the heir to a rival yakuza group, transfers to his class, and the two must pretend to date to keep a war from breaking out between their families.

Komi launched the original manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2011, and Viz Media is releasing the manga digitally and in print in North America. Aniplex of America released the first anime season on Blu-ray Disc in November, and Crunchyroll streamed the first anime season as it aired in Japan.

The television anime is getting a second season, and it also spawned two original video anime (OVA) bundled with volumes of the manga.

Tsutsui's other works include Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Sweets Honey, Esprit, and Fukashigi Philia.
