Ange Vierge Trading Card Game Gets Anime Project
posted on by Egan Loo
The special stage event for the Ange Vierge trading card game at Fantasia Bunko Festival announced on Saturday that an anime adaptation project has launched. More details will be announced later.
Ange Vierge is a trading card game released by two Kadokawa publishers, Fujimi Shobo and Media Factory. It features illustrations by popular artists, such as Kantoku (HENNEKO, Magical Suite Prism Nana), Kira Inugami (Student Council's Discretion, Ebiten: Kōritsu Ebisugawa Kōkō Tenmon-Bu), Kurehito Misaki (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend), and abec (Sword Art Online).
The project has a theme song by the group L.I.N.K.s — Yuka Aisaka, Mai Ishihara, Nozomi Yamamoto, Rie Takahashi, and Yoshiko Ikuta. The group appeared at Saturday's event for a talk show and live performance.
The story of the card game follows what happens when "Hairō" portals suddenly open, fusing three different worlds together. As a result, various mysterious "Exceed" powers are awakened in teenaged girls. An academy for these so-called "Progress" girls is built on the isolated Seiran Island in the Pacific.
Four of the main characters are:
Illustrator: Kantoku (HENNEKO, Magical Suite Prism Nana)
Sofina (Mai Ishihara), the brilliant witch from the dark world, Darkness Embraces
Illustrator: Kira Inugami (Student Council's Discretion, Ebiten: Kōritsu Ebisugawa Kōkō Tenmon-Bu)
Aurora (Saori Hayami), the amnesiac girl from the red world, Terra Rubli Aurora
Illustrator: Kurehito Misaki (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend)
SW=Code Omega 46 Senia (Kana Hanazawa), the android girl from the white world, System;White=E.G.M.A
Illustrator: abec (Sword Art Online)
Other characters include:
- Rie Takahashi as Yūfiria
- Yoshiko Ikuta as Ruby
- Nozomi Yamamoto as Mayuka
The game already inspired two promotional anime by Production I.G and Point Pictures last year and this year:
The game was first announced at an unveiling in Tokyo's Akihabara district in 2013. The franchise has since expanded into a smartphone game and a manga adaptation, Ange Vierge Linkage, which is serializing on Kadokawa's Dragon Age magazine and ComicWalker app. Mako Komao is writing the series with art by Sakaki Yoshioka.
