Jump SQ. 19 to End, But New Magazine to Launch in July

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Shueisha is ending the spinoff magazine Jump SQ. 19 in its 18th issue on Thursday. However, a new spinoff of Jump Square magazine will launch in July.

Jump SQ. 19 launched on May 19, 2010. The magazine title (pronounced "Jump S Q Ichi Kyū") is inspired by the magazine's original shipping schedule: every quarter on May 19, August 19, November 19, and February 19. It then switched from the quarterly schedule to every other month in 2012. The magazine's digital editions represented some of Shueisha's first forays into electronic manga.

The first issue contained one-shot manga such as Mizuki Kawashita's G-Maru Edition, Usamaru Furuya's Teiichi no Kuni, the return of Yasuhiro Nightow's Kekkai Sensen, and Kentarō Yabuki's adaptation of Tomohiro Matsu and Peco's Mayoi Neko Overrun! light novel series. The magazine later published Stan Lee and Hiroyuki Takei's Karakuridōji Ultimo manga and Karega Tsuchiya's Valvrave the Liberator manga series.
