Monster Musume Anime Unveils Web Shorts, MON Members' Cast

posted on by Egan Loo

The official website for the television anime of OKAYADO's Monster Musume (Monster Musume no Iru Nichijō or Everyday Life with Monster Girls) manga announced new cast members on Saturday:

Momo Asakura as the mono-eyed Manako

Rei Mochizuki as the living dead Zombina

Yurika Kubo as the biggest MON member, the ogre Tionisia

Saori Ōnishi as the doppelganger Doppel

These characters are members of MON, the organization that regulates violations of the Cultural Exchange Between Species Act.

In addition to the television anime, the MonMusume Channel on the Niconico service will stream Hobo Mainichi OO! Namappoi Dōga (Almost Daily __! Sort of Live Video), anime shorts that offer a secret candid look at the daily lives of Monster Musume. The shorts will update almost every weekday, but each short will be available for 24 hours only. The weekends will have a digest version summarizing the week's videos.

OKAYADO launched the manga in Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Ryū magazine in 2012. Seven Seas Entertainment published the sixth compiled volume in North America in March, and it describes the story:

Monsters: they're real, and they want to date us!

Three years ago, the world learned that harpies, centaurs, catgirls, and all manners of fabulous creatures are not merely fiction; they are flesh and blood - not to mention scale, feather, horn, and fang. Thanks to the "Cultural Exchange Between Species Act," these once-mythical creatures have assimilated into society, or at least, they're trying.

When a hapless human teenager named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a "volunteer" into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu's job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life.

Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. Even worse, when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in, what's a full-blooded teenage human with raging hormones to do?!

The main cast members include:

Junji Majima as Kurusu Kimihito

Sora Amamiya as Miia

Ari Ozawa as Papi

Natsuki Aikawa as Centorea

Haruka Yamazaki as Melo

Sakura Nakamura as Rachnera

Yū Kobayashi as Smith

Tatsuya Yoshihara (Muromi-san, Yatterman Night) is directing the anime, with series composition and scripting by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, Miss Monochrome). Takaya Sunagawa (Yozakura Quartet ~Tsuki ni Naku~) serves as character designer and animation director. Shunji Akasaka (key animator for Tamayura - More Aggressive, Cardfight!! Vanguard) serves as chief animation director and sub-character designer. The artists manzo and Hiroaki Tsutsumi are composing the music for the series. Lerche x Seva is handling the show's animation.

The six main female cast members perform the opening theme song "Saikōsoku Fall in Love" (Highest Speed Fall in Love). "Smith with MON" — a unit made up of the voice actresses for Ms. Smith, Manako, Tionishia, Zombina, and Doppel — performs the ending theme song "Hey! Smith!!"

The series will premiere on Wednesday, July 8 at 12:30 a.m. on Tokyo MX TV, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and AT-X. The series will then premiere on BS11 and Niconico.
